The incident happened in the town of El Callao, in Bolívar state, after the attraction called "the flying chairs" gave way in the local amusement park at around 10.20pm on Saturday. Images show many people trying to lift up the wreckage of the ride with children having fallen to the ground. Authorities have said that there were seven children who were injured with cuts and bruises and it is not been revealed how seriously they were hurt. Emergency services rushed to the scene to treat the victims and take them to local medical centres including the Juan Germán Roscio Hospital, where they remain under medical observation, reported El Nacional. An investigation is underway into what happened with reports that an axle on the main frame gave way leading to the structure with the seats to come loose and fall to the ground. The incident has led to the closing of the theme park which has been run by a company for only a month and an inspection has started into whether all the rules and safety regulations were being followed. Meanwhile, three young people have been injured on a fairground ride in Rotherham, sparking a major emergency services response on Friday. Police and paramedics were called to Maltby Crags Fair on Friday evening following reports of an incident on a ride. South Yorkshire Police said two children, aged 11 and 13, and a 21-year-old woman were injured and taken to hospital for treatment. The incident is understood to have happened at around 7.30pm. At least six police vehicles attended the scene, according to local outlet The Star. A force spokesperson said: "Emergency services are currently in attendance at an incident at Maltby Crags Fair in Rotherham after two young people, aged 11 and 13, and a 21-year-old woman [were] injured while on a ride. "They have been taken to hospital for treatment and the fairground has now closed for the evening (11 September). "Blyth Lane was closed between Muglet Lane and Victoria Road to allow people to safely exit the fairground but has since been reopened." Former Rother Valley MP Alexander Stafford said in a Facebook post: "News from the fair in Maltby, where a ride has reportedly injured a child. I believe only one child is involved, but please check on your children if they are currently there."
