The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said Gary Anderson, 29, had been on day release from HMP Maghaberry, in County Antrim, on Monday. The force has appealed directly to Anderson to hand himself in and urged members of the public not to approach him. Anderson was sentenced to 15 years in prison in 2023 for the murder of Karol Kelly. Mr Kelly, a father of five, died on Grafton Street in Londonderry in the early hours of March 4, 2018, after an altercation during which he was stabbed several times. Anderson and his brother, Sean Anderson, were both found guilty of his murder. Police are appealing for information to help locate Anderson, who is currently unlawfully at large. He is described as approximately 5ft 11in tall, of slim build and with brown hair. A PSNI spokesperson said: "We appeal directly to Gary to hand himself in. "We would also ask anyone who has seen him, or who knows of his whereabouts, not to approach him directly but to contact police on 101, quoting reference 555 of 14/09/26."
