Brit boy, 3, boy can name and identify all the world's country flags as well as all 50 US states Reggie Ellis, from Ipswich, has 217 flags memorised - from countries around the world to the flags of the 50 US states - with Uzbekistan, Hawaii and Guatemala his favourites A three-year-old boy has left people stunned by his ability to name and identify all the world's country flags and all 50 US states. Little Reggie Ellis, from Ipswich, developed the fascination after first becoming interested in space, learning the order of the planets - and he could even name dwarf planets. But his current obsession is flags, with his favourites being Uzbekistan, Hawaii and Guatemala. The tot has a staggering 217 flags memorised, and instead of space bedding, or something depicting a popular character, his is decorated with a Union Jack. "It's almost as if they're toys to him," his dad Ben, 44, said. "In the traditional sense that other children play with dolls, he plays with flags. "He has a Union Jack bedspread which has to be changed, washed and put back on the same day. Reggie quite likes the flags of Uzbekistan and, although we don't know why, at Christmas he asked for the flags of Hawaii and Guatemala." There are 195 widely recognised national flags while some individual dependent territories also have their own flags. Reggie picked up the hobby through YouTube videos, puzzles, books, and regular quizzing by his family. Reggie has even expanded his flag knowledge to include the American states, which each haive their own official flag. He can also point out where English counties are on a map - and he's not even at school yet. Ben explained: "In the space of five or six weeks, he learnt all the American state flags. We bought the flags with pictures of the states on the front and he can now work out where the state is by looking at a map and the shape of it. I think it all comes down to memory." Ben and Kelly, Reggie's mum, have even installed a flagpole in their garden which they use to fly a different country's flag each day, hoisiting it in a mini ceremony. Teacher Ben said: "From the momeny he wakes up to the momeny he goes to bed, he's either talking about flags or doing something with flags. "He almost treats them like little characters. He'll say, 'Here comes Sweden', or 'Look, Colombia's over there'. The Chad and Belgium flags are quite similar and in the beginning he'd struggle, similarly with Austria and Latvia as well. But now he tells me the white bit on Latvia is thinner and I'll nod and say 'Yeah I definitely noticed that too'."
