According to the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, Kim had repeatedly assaulted Kaufman in the past. Despite fierce objections from prosecutors who fought for protective orders to shield the vulnerable senior, Judge John Ryan converted Kim’s previous felony domestic abuse charge into a misdemeanor in January. The judge waived her eight-day jail sentence and declined to place her on probation.
