Air traffic control prioritised the returning jet for an immediate diversion back to Dublin Airport, where emergency ground crews were placed on standby ahead of its landing at around 4:15pm. A Delta Air Lines spokesperson told the Mirror that the flight returned to Dublin following a medical situation involving a passenger. The spokesperson said: "Delta Flight 45 from Dublin to New York-JFK returned to Dublin due to a customer medical situation onboard. We thank our crew for their professionalism and our customers for their understanding".
