Ukrainian media has reported that a drone crashed near Lake Steinhude, about one kilometre from the Wunstorf strategic military airbase. German authorities have deployed a massive police search operation to recover all debris. The proximity of the debris to the air base has raised the alarm about acts of sabotage - however, it is not yet known who was flying the drone or whether its proximity to the airfield was deliberate. Additional information will only be released once all components have been retrieved and fully examined to determine whether the drone carried surveillance equipment, explosives or was a commercial drone. A police spokesperson said there is no immediate ongoing danger to the public.
