Elvis and Priscilla Presley's wedding album to go up for auction The pair got married in May 1967 in front of just 14 of their closest family and friends in a private suite in Vegas' Aladdin Hotel A private photo album containing 30 pictures from Elvis and Priscilla Presley ’s wedding is set to go up for auction. The rare collection includes the images of the couple celebrating their iconic nuptials in Las Vegas, as well as three colour photos of them and their then newborn daughter Lisa Marie Presley at Graceland the following summer. Danish auctioneers Bruun Rasmussen are set to sell the collection in an online sale on September 21 and have already begun taking bids, with offers already at more than £9,000. Specialist auctioneer Ludvig Hjorth said: “Elvis and Priscilla Presley are undoubtedly one of the most iconic couples of the 20th century, and it is extraordinary to be able to present such rare and personal documentation of their life together. "The wedding album is an authentic record of the historic moment when the couple married in Las Vegas, while the photographs from Graceland take us into a much more private chapter of their lives as new parents." Elvis, who died aged just 42 in August 1977, first met Priscilla when she was aged just 14 in September 1959, when her family were living in Wiesbaden, Germany, where her dad, US Air Force officer Captain Joseph Paul Beaulieu, was stationed. Elvis, ten years her senior, was serving in the US Army at Ray Barracks, just under 40 miles away. In 1963, Priscilla, then aged 17, moved in with Elvis at Graceland before the pair got married in May 1967 in front of just 14 of their closest family and friends in a private suite in Vegas' Aladdin Hotel. The photo album was given to Priscilla's parents as a personal memento of the ceremony. It has since been passed down through the Beaulieu family and has never previously been offered for sale. The cover of the album features gold embossed lettering reading: “Priscilla and Elvis Presley 5-1-67 – Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Beaulieu – From the Colonel.” The mention of “The Colonel” is understood to refer to Elvis’s famously influential and controversial manager, Colonel Tom Parker. Parker helped arrange the wedding, which consisted of an eight-minute ceremony for a small group of guests, followed by a press conference and a reception attended by around 100 people. Several of the wedding photographs have been dated in pencil on the reverse, with the handwritten notation “5-1-67.” One of the three photos taken at Graceland also includes a handwritten note on the reverse, reading: “Elvis going fast to scare mother.” It is believed only around ten copies of the album were ever printed before being presented by Elvis and Priscilla as personal gifts to various family members.
