British mum abducted from car in Malawi as brother makes desperate plea A British mum-of-two has been missing for days after being abducted by four men, with police offering a major reward for information as her family waits desperately for information on her whereabouts A heartbroken brother has issued a desperate plea after a British woman was snatched from her car in Malawi in a horrific daylight kidnapping. Mum-of-two Nusrat Jiwa Osman, 47, was allegedly abducted by four men outside her home in Malawi at around 12.30pm on Friday. The group were travelling in a grey Nissan Dualis, according to police, and Nusrat has not been seen since. Her younger brother Shobi Jiwa said the family have been left desperately waiting for any news of her whereabouts. Nusrat, originally from Leicester, works as an auditor in Malawi after moving to the African country when her husband set up a business there. Her family say they cannot understand why she may have been targeted. Shobi said: Shobi : “My sister has been missing for five days with no trace or call”. He added: “We just want prayers. No one knows anything. It’s the only thing that can help us at this stage.” In the heartbreaking appeal to those responsible, he said: “She’s a mother of two. Please let her go.” Nusrat has been described as a warm and outgoing person who is involved with charity work. Shobi told the Sun: “She’s a humble soul and a beautiful person. She’s involved in various charities, a jolly person, an extrovert… we don’t understand why she was taken”. Nusrat’s husband has also spoken of the anguish facing the family. He told Nyasa Times: “I don’t know where she is or how she is. My wife is an auditor and I have no issues with anyone,” Police said the motive behind the abduction remains unknown and that the kidnappers have not contacted either Nusrat’s family or the authorities. Shobi explained this was not the first abduction recently in Malawi, he explained: “There have been four similar cases”. This is the first time a woman has been abducted.” Malawi Police Service has launched a major search and offered 30million Malawi Kwacha, around £12,800, for “credible information” that directly leads to Nusrat’s rescue and the arrest, prosecution and conviction of those responsible. Officers have also urged the public to remain calm and “refrain from spreading unverified information that could compromise the ongoing investigation”. A spokesman for the UK Foreign Office said: “We are aware of reports that a British national has been abducted in Malawi and are in touch with local authorities.”
