The flight crew transmitted a 7700 squawk code - the international signal for a general emergency - over the North Sea shortly after entering British airspace, Manchester Evening News reports. The Boeing 777-240LR landed safely at Manchester Airport at around 4.30pm - approximately 30 minutes ahead of its scheduled arrival time of 5pm. A spokesperson for Manchester Airport said a "medical emergency" had been reported on board and that ambulance services met the aircraft on the tarmac. An RAF spokesperson confirmed there was no RAF aircraft activity involved in the incident, following speculation online that the plane had been escorted by two Typhoon fighter jets. The Mirror has contacted Pakistan International Airlines for comment. Pakistan's national flag carrier primarily operates Boeing 777, Airbus A320 and ATR aircraft. It comes after a Jet2 flight from London to Bulgaria was diverted to Germany following a medical incident on board. Flight LS1413, which was travelling from London Stansted to Burgas Airport in south-east Bulgaria, landed at Frankfurt Airport at 5.43pm local time (4.43pm BST) on Monday. Jet2 said the diversion was "due to a medical incident on board" and that the aircraft would refuel in Frankfurt before continuing to its destination. The Airbus A321 eventually touched down at Burgas at 10.27pm local time (8.27pm BST) - around one hour and 45 minutes after its scheduled arrival time of 8.40pm local time. In a customer notice on its website, Jet2 said: "Due to a medical incident on board, we wanted to let you know that flight LS1413 London Stansted to Bourgas will need to make a fuel stop in Frankfurt. "Once the plane has refuelled, it will then continue to Bourgas Airport. This is an unscheduled change, so we're doing everything we can to minimise any disruption to your onward journey. "Thanks in advance for your understanding and patience during this time - we'll have you on your way as quickly as we can."
