New Lidl £10 'ultrasonic' decorative gadget similar to £115 high-end brand out soon The new gadget will land in stores in a few days and it could save shoppers over £100 on a similar high-end version Lild is set to launch a new decorative homeware gadget that resembles a £115 version available at a high-end fragrance store. Shoppers can browse through new Special Buy offers every Thursday and Sunday as part of the supermarket's regularly updated Middle Aisle. Coming out next Sunday, September 27, is the Livarno Gold-Coloured Ultrasonic Aroma Diffuser for £9.99. The item shares similar design features to the luxury brand Rituals' £114.90 The Perfume Genie diffuser, which costs around £105 more than Lidl's version. At a glance, you could easily mistake one for the other. Both feature a teardrop-shaped "genie bottle" design with a metallic, brushed-gold finish. Designed to look like a high-end ornament rather than a standard household appliance, Lidl's budget version offers the same aesthetic for a fraction of the cost. In the product description, Lidl says: "Creates a pleasant atmosphere in a room with a cool, gently rising mist. Lavender aroma oil (included) can be added for a soothing fragrance. Optional fog lighting with a decorative change in colour or constant colour (choice of 14 colours). Quiet operation for an undisturbed, cosy atmosphere. "Automatic safety switch-off function when the water tank is empty. Antibacterial water tank with a 100ml capacity. Includes a 150ml measuring cup with scale, 10ml lavender scented oil, mains plug with 1.8m mains cable. Diffuses fragrance in rooms up to 25m². Run time per filling: maximum six hours. Three-year warranty." Lavender has been scientifically proven to help calm you down by interacting with your nervous system to reduce stress and promote relaxation. Lavender contains natural compounds called linalool and linalyl acetate. When you breathe in the scent, it activates the smell receptors in your nose. This sends signals to your brain's feelings centre, the limbic system. It can slow your heart rate, lower your blood pressure, and reduce cortisol, the hormone that makes you stressed. It helps your body shift from "fight-or-flight" mode to "rest-and-digest" mode. Meanwhile, the description for the £114.90 version on Rituals' website reads: " Turn your home into a haven with the Perfume Genie; our innovative smart aroma diffuser you can control and schedule remotely from your smartphone. Covering a scent range of up to 50m², endlessly refillable and now available in two stylish colours." However, despite looking similar in shape and colour, the two devices function differently. The biggest difference is how they spread fragrance. Lidl’s Livarno version is a traditional ultrasonic diffuser. You fill its tank with water, add a few drops of affordable essential oils, and it emits a highly visible plume of cool white mist. It is a manual device operated by basic buttons and a timer. Rituals' The Perfume Genie is a waterless, smart gadget. Instead of water and oil, it uses dry-air technology to atomise concentrated perfume directly from sealed, brand-specific scent cartridges. Because it uses no water, the fragrance release is entirely invisible. It is also fully smart, allowing you to control the device, set schedules, and change settings remotely using a smartphone app.
