The mum, who has not been named, was found by police at a nearby address and taken to hospital for assessment. Upon release from hospital she was arrested and taken to Auburn Police Station where she was then charged with mother alone conceal birth by disposing body. Police received reports that the body of a baby had been located in a rubbish bin in Harrow Road, Auburn, on Monday Augist 31 at around 11.20am. Following weeks of extensive inquiries investigators executed a crime scene warrant at a unit on Harrow Road yesterday where they found who they believed to be the mother of the child. She has since been charged and is awaiting a court hearing on October 27. A New South Wales Police spokesperson said: "A woman has been charged after the body of an infant was located in Sydney’s south west last month. About 11.20am on Monday 31 August 2026, emergency services were called to Harrow Road, Auburn, following reports the body of a baby had been located in a garbage bin. "Officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command attended and located the body of a newborn boy. Police established a crime scene, and detectives commenced an investigation into the incident under Strike Force Alenor. "Following extensive inquiries, about 6.45am today (Thursday 17 September 2026), investigators executed a crime scene warrant at a unit on Harrow Road, Auburn. A short time later, police spoke with a 24-year-old woman – who is believed to be the mother of the infant – at another address in Auburn before she was taken to hospital for assessment. "Upon release from hospital, the woman was arrested and taken to Auburn Police Station. The 24-year-old was charged with mother alone conceal birth by disposing body. She was granted conditional bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court (John Maddison Tower) on Tuesday 27 October 2026."
