The UK Government has issued a product recall involving a toy sold at Smyths, urging anyone who might have bought it to stop using it immediately. The Smyths Toys Wooden Cornhole Board with Bean Bags "presents a risk to health as the sand inside the bags may be contaminated with a small quantity of asbestos", says the recall notice, adding that "the product has been withdrawn from the market and recalled from end users by Smyths Toys". People who have bought the toy, which originates in China and has the model number 233254, are advised to: - Stop using it immediately - If the product is undamaged, place in a heavy-duty plastic bag, double tape it securely, label it clearly and store in a secure location out of the reach of children. - If the product is damaged and the filling is accessible, clean-up sites where the product was used using wet cloths to avoid generating dust. Wear gloves and a mask. Double-bag the filling and product gloves, mask and cloths. - Keep children and other people away from areas where the sand has been used until the area has been cleaned. - Return the product to your nearest Smyths Toys store for a full refund. You do not need to provide the receipt. - If you are unable to return the product to your nearest Smyths Toys store, follow the steps above and contact your local authority for guidance on safe disposal of asbestos in your area. Asbestos is a banned substance because it poses a risk to health even at low levels of exposure. It is not the only product being recalled for safety reasons. Baylis & Harding Oud, Cedar & Amber 1L Hand Wash Refill The product presents a microbiological risk as testing identified the presence of Pluralibacter gergoviae. The UK government says: "Contamination with this microorganism may lead to infection or adverse health effects, particularly in vulnerable users or those with a compromised skin barrier." The products have been recalled from end users by Baylis and Harding, Amazon, Ocado, Sainsbury’s, and Waitrose. Consumers should stop using the product immediately and return it to their place of purchase for redress. Groovy Baby 'I Spy a Fly' Book The product presents a risk of choking because the fly wings on the last page of the book may in some instances detach from the book when pulled. This poses a potential choking hazard for babies and young children. Consumers should cease using the product immediately. It has been recalled from end users by Make Believe Ideas (MBI). Cambridge Audio Ceiling Speaker Fire Hood Ceiling speaker fire hood products are intended for installation behind in-ceiling loudspeakers to help reduce sound leakage and help slow down the spread of fire. The UK government says "the product may not perform as intended in limiting the spread of fire through a ceiling opening. It has been identified that the stitching used in the product is not fire resistant and may fail under developed fire conditions after approximately six minutes". The product has been recalled from end users by Cambridge Audio, the manufacturer, and Richer Sounds, the distributor. Diall 16A Blue Site Connector and Blue Site Socket The product "presents a risk of electric shock because the live and neutral connection markings are reversed, meaning the product can be wired incorrectly". It has been recalled from end users by Kingfisher International Products Limited. If you have a product from the following batches, disconnect fully from the electricity supply. Switching it off at the wall is not sufficient, the plug must be removed from the socket: 25W0803; 25W1203; 25W1603; 25W3601; 25W4001; 25W4801; 25W5301; 26W1101; 26W2801.
