Piers Morgan slams Earl Spencer's 'resentful attack' on King Charles Pier Morgan has hit back at Earl Spencer after he claims to 'not hold resentments' after launching 'a vengeful resentful attack on King Charles' after 30 years Piers Morgan has given a brutal instant response to Earl Spencer's 'vengeful attack' on King Charles in his new book. Spencer's book, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, is due to be published this week and includes criticism towards the Royal Family, with Buckingham Palace already issuing a response to claims made about Charles in snippets already released. Despite the so called 'war' that has been ignited by the publishing of the book, speaking to CBS, Spencer told Mark Phillips: “I'm at a stage of my life where the past is the past. "I don’t hold resentments. I’m not a vengeful, resentful person "I’m just an eyewitness to history." Spencer said in the interview that he does not have a personal relationship with Charles, he is just a former brother-in-law and his Monarch. He added: "I'm not being rude about them. I'm not interested in the Royal Family." Morgan, quickly retaliated to Spencer's interview, sharing a clip of it on X with the caption: "He says, having waited 30 years to launch a vengeful resentful attack on King Charles." The post was followed by an eye rolling emoji. It comes in a thread of critical commentary from Morgan about Spencer's book with the 61-year-old having already called it a "parody". In another rant on X, Morgan said: "I've seen some brass necks in my time but Earl Spencer slamming the 'malign cancerous' way the media supposedly treat Harry/Meghan, whilst simultaneously flogging his book which treats King Charles in a malign cancerous way (as our 77-year-old Monarch actually battles cancer) is beyond parody." In the memoir Spencer claims that the King, who was then the Prince of Wales, said "we'll forget her soon enough" during a row over whether young Princes William and Harry should walk in Diana's funeral procession. After this quote was made public, Buckingham Palace issued a strongly worded response to the claim that said the King was "mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgement and colour memory in ways others do not recognise, even many years after such a loss". Spencer has hit back at the palace's statement, claiming the King is attempting to 'gaslight' him. He stands by the heated phone call between the pair and said he told "close friends and family" about the "monstrous" comment.
