'I tried McDonald's brand new World Heist menu - one item needs to stay forever' With some of the world's most popular McDonald's items coming to the UK menu, Mirror writer Niamh Kirk went to try out what was on offer - and found an absolute game-changer straight out of Canada McDonald's is giving fans a taste of the global menu with the launch of the brand-new World Menu Heist. Returning on September 22 for a limited time across the UK and Ireland, the lineup brings together iconic favourites from Germany, the UAE, Canada, India, China, the Netherlands, and Australia. Dubbed the ultimate "flavour raid," the menu features loaded burgers topped with crispy potato rösti, sweet-and-salty maple chicken, smoky seasoned fries, refreshing drinks and a brand-new Aussie-inspired McMuffin option. I went to the McDonald's UK headquarters to try the line-up ahead of its nationwide release - and there are a few standout items that deserve a permanent spot on the menu. Australia - Chicken & Egg McMuffin Available September 22 to November 16 When you thought you couldn't beat a classic Sausage and Egg McMuffin for breakfast, the Aussies have entered the building with an unexpected option. Down Under, McDonald's swaps the traditional pork patty for a crisp, fried chicken patty, served in an English muffin with egg or bacon, cheese, and cool mayonnaise. While I do love the chicken burgers from McDonalds, the classic sausage patty remains unbeatable for breakfast. Mayonnaise for breakfast doesn't feel right - but a dash of tomato ketchup could turn this into a winner. Germany - Available September 22 to October 19 Now for the main event, we've got a burger straight from Germany. The Big Rösti, stacks a beef patty with a crispy potato rösti, streaky bacon, cheese, creamy baconnaise and a rich cheese sauce. It certainly lives up to its name as a big burger. The potato rösti is generous, crispy and ideal for hash brown lovers. It's an indulgent, satisfying and incredibly messy burger that offers something a little different. Canada - Maple & Cheddar Chicken & S’mores McFlurry Available September 22 to November 16 Canada is famous for its maple syrup - so adding it into a burger makes perfect sense. A crispy chicken breast is topped with cheddar cheese, fried onions, regular onion, lettuce and tomato, citrus mayo, and a sweet mustard maple sauce. The burger packs an unexpected punch and I wasn't expecting it to be as spicy as it was - a great combination that elevates the sweetness of the maple sauce. Aside from the burger, McDonald's are also offering a new sweet treat: the S'mores McFlurry. The soft dairy ice cream is packed with marshmallows, biscuit crumb and chocolate sauce mixed throughout. It's decadent and seriously sweet, and easily the standout item of the launch. I'd love to see this become a permanent option. The UAE - Mac and Cheese Triangles Available September 22 to Nov 16 Back by extremely popular demand after a hit run in 2025, these Middle Eastern sides feature a crispy golden breadcrumb coating filled with gooey macaroni and cheese. Another fun side dish on the menu is the Dutch take on McDonald's iconic fries. While nothing beats the classic, piping-hot verion, these come with a separate smoky paprika seasoning packet and a shaker bag, allowing you to control the flavour intensity. They are a great way to spice up your usual order, but be warned - the seasoning turned out surprisingly sweet, rather than smoky. While I enjoyed them, you still can't beat the classic salted French fry. China - Szechuan Sauce Available September 22 to Nov 16 Inspired by Asian flavour profiles, the limited edition sauce combines sweet and savoury notes with a mild Szechuan pepper heat, perfect for dipping fries and nuggets in. The strong umami punch may not be for everyone, with a noticeable hint of ginger, meaning it might be a bit overpowering if consumed in large quantities. India - Guava x Sprite Zero Available September 22 to Oct 19 And finally, to wash down the global feast, there is also the arrival of the Guava x Sprite Zero from India. This is a seriously refreshing drink, with the guava cutting through the sharp lemon-lime fizz to add a tropical twist.
