Falmouth bomb - live: Mass evacuation and train lines to close after 'missile' found A suspected American missile from World War Two has been found at Falmouth Docks with hundreds of homes to be evacuated this morning Hundreds of homes will be evacuated today in Cornwall after a suspected unexploded American missile from the Second World War was discovered. The device was found within the Falmouth Docks area on Monday afternoon and is now going to be moved for disposal. All Falmouth trains will be cancelled from 9am due to the bomb being near the railway. This includes Great Western Railway (GWR) services, with the last one from Truro to Falmouth Docks to leave at 8.15am. No trains will leave the docks after 8.45am but services will still run between Truro and Falmouth Town. No replacement buses will be available due to the nature of the incident. Yesterday, a 1.4km cordon was created, meaning more than 1,300 homes could have been evacuated. This was then revised and a 755m cordon will now be put in place. This means more than 330 properties will be evacuated ahead of the removal, with the procedure due from 9am. Key Events All Falmouth trains cancelled The wartime explosive device is located near railways and its removal today will also impact train services as a result. All trains in Falmouth will be cancelled from 9am today, National Rail has confirmed. Great Western Railway (GWR) said the last train from Truro to Falmouth Docks will leave at 8.15am, but there will be no service which will leave the docks after 8.45am. It added trains will continue to run between Truro and Falmouth Town, but there will be no replacement road transport or local bus route, because of the nature of the incident.
