Oksana Antanaitiene, 51, from Grays, has pleaded guilty to misconduct in a public office at Chelmsford Crown Court and was released on bail ahead of sentencing on October 28. She was found in a locked office at HMP Chelmsford with a serving prisoner at HMP Chelmsford in August, 2025, while she was being investigated. And police went on to find she had sent letters and made telephone calls with the inmate which were also of a sexual nature, as well as sending explicit images. A search of the prisoner's cell on October 22 last year found explicit images while a USB device was discovered in a dressing gown. During an internal meeting a day later, Antanaitiene admitted forming the inappropriate relationship and had sent photos to the inmate. She also admitted giving music and TV files to him which were contained within a USB drive. Essex Police said that during searches of a vehicle and a property connected to Antanaitiene, officers also found "other items of significance". The force stated: "A prison tutor who formed an inappropriate relationship with an inmate has admitted misconduct in a public office. Work into Oksana Antanaitiene had already begun when she was found in a locked office in HMP Chelmsford with a serving male prisoner in August 2025. "Our investigation subsequently showed she had communicated sexually with the man by letter, by phone and had sent sexually explicit images." It added: "Antanaitiene’s role at the prison was as a maths tutor. She had undergone two separate training sessions relating to safety in prison, corruption prevention and delivering teaching within a prison context." DC Matthew Parker, of the Prison Investigations Team at Essex Police, said how Antanaitiene had "repeated contact" with the prisoner as well as sharing banned items and explicit material. He stated: "Antanaitiene held a position of trust within the prison environment and was fully aware of the professional standards and boundaries expected of her. "Instead, she chose to enter into an inappropriate relationship with a serving prisoner and continued that relationship through repeated contact and the sharing of prohibited items and explicit material. Her actions undermined the integrity of the prison system and had the potential to compromise the safety and security of the establishment."
