A young boy has died after allegedly being shot in the face at a Norwest unit in Sydney's north-west on Monday.
Police were called to the scene at about 5 pm that night and found the boy had sustained a gunshot wound to his face and neck.
The boy was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital in a critical condition.
NSW Police said he died around 8 pm on Thursday.
Five other people were in the unit on Monday but were not injured.
Three 18-year-olds were arrested by police but two were later released pending further inquiries.
The third man has been charged with concealing a serious indictable offence and remains before the courts.
Although police initially reassured the community that they did not believe the incident was related to organise crime, they later revealed they were investigating whether the men present had criminal links.
The investigation is continuing.
