Parents find girl, 3, dead in pool as Lanzarote family holiday becomes nightmare A girl, aged three, has tragically died in the pool of a tourist property on Lanzarote just two days after her family arrived on the island, with a police investigation underway A three-year-old girl has tragically drowned while on holiday in Lanzarote. The toddler was found unresponsive in a pool by her parents at a tourist property in Tinajo, having only arrived in the Canary Islands two days before the tragedy on Wednesday. She was resuscitated but was confirmed dead upon arrival at a local hospital. A full investigation is now underway by Spanish police. Reports suggests she may have strayed away from her parents and entered the water without knowing how to swim. "A girl, barely three years old, lost her life yesterday after falling into the pool at a vacation rental in the municipality of Tinajo (Lanzarote),” said an association for the prevention of accidents in water, Canarias 1500km of Coastline, in a statement on Facebook. “Emergency services were alerted at 6pm when the 112 emergency line received a call reporting the incident. It appears that the parents realised the child was missing and went to the outdoor patio to look for her. “There, they discovered their daughter’s motionless body lying face down at the bottom of the pool. The girl did not know how to swim.” In an update the association confirmed that the little girl was on holiday with her Chinese parents when the accident happened. And it said how police rushed to the scene and provided CPR but the girl could not be saved. "The initial assistance was provided by officers from the Tinajo local police, who performed CPR on her while waiting for an ambulance," stated Canarias 1500km of Coastline. "Once at the vacation home, paramedics continued with advanced CPR for 20 minutes and initially managing to revive her. Unfortunately, the little girl died after she was taken to Dr. Molina Orosa hospital. We extend our condolences to her family for such a painful loss."
