The company, Novel Wines, was known for its unusual European bottles for those looking for alternatives to popular wines. The business was founded in April 2016, with a physical store opening in Bath in 2019. This shop closed five years later with the brand focusing on online sales and wholesale customers. The company's website doesn't allow customers to place orders, with it displaying that changes are being made to the site. The site claims the business was an "award-winning wine merchant specialising in lesser-known quality wines and spirits." According to The Gazette, Richard Cole and Stephen Kenny, both of KBL Advisory Limited were appointed as joint liquidators on September 18. The company also had a subscription service through its website called the Explorer's Club for the "curious drinkers". The message currently presented on the website reads: "We're just making a few quick changes to the website so it's much easier for you to shop for great wines." Customers are asked to contact the business by email as staff remain on hand to help, however automated responses were receievd from Managing Director Will Hill and South West Area Manager Adam Lever who have both left Novel Wines.
