Teen girl fights for life after her car collided with HGV as she joined A1 The young woman was joining the northbound A1 in a Volkswagen Polo when her car collided with a Scania HGV car transporter A teenager is fighting for her life in hospital after the car she was driving collided with an HGV in West Yorkshire as she joined a main road. West Yorkshire Police said the woman aged in her teens, suffered life-threatening head injuries. She had been travelling in a blue Volkswagen Polo involved in a crash with a Scania HGV car transporter, police said. The incident happened on the northbound A1, at its junction with the B6474 between Wentbridge and Darrington shortly before 2.20pm on Monday, September 21. Police are now looking to speak to witnesses regarding the collision, particularly with anyone who can help identify a black van. The vehicle is believed to be a Ford Transit and was seen entering the northbound A1 from the B6474 a few moments before the crash. A statement from West Yorkshire Police reads: "Officers investigating a collision on the A1 in which a driver suffered life-threatening injuries are appealing for information about a van that could assist with the investigation. The collision happened between a blue VW Polo and a Scania HGV car transporter on the northbound A1, at the junction for the B6474, between Wentbridge and Darrington, shortly before 2.20pm on Monday (21 September). "Officers would like to hear from the driver, occupants, or anyone who can assist in identifying a black van, possibly a Ford Transit, which was seen entering the northbound A1 from the B6474 a few moments prior to the collision. The driver of the Polo, a woman aged in her teens, suffered serious head injuries and was taken to hospital where she remains in a serious condition.
