But there's a way to get paid early, and all you need to do is follow a few simple steps. The Get Paid Early feature is available to Monzo customers - and you could even be in with a chance to double your pay. And it won’t cost you any extra money for the perk. Customers are eligible for this early payment if they are with Monzo and they get paid via Bacs. This type of payment is mainly used for Direct Debits and credits. It usually takes three working days to clear - for example, money paid in on Monday will clear on Wednesday. Monzo explains that customers can get their "salary or student loan payment from 4pm one business day early, and hear that sweet ka-ching as you drag your money into your current account. Available when you get paid via Bacs." Christmas pay day For example, if you are due to get paid on September 25, you can expect to be paid on September 24. To activate the early payment, simply head to the app at 4pm and swipe to get paid - simple. Monzo's Get Paid Early perk can also help over the festive and New Year period, when money is tight. For example, if your salary is due on Monday, January 25, 2027, you’d get it the week before on Friday, January 22. With Christmas and New Year being an expensive time, it means being paid a few days earlier instead of having to wait over the weekend. Tax-free double payday Getting paid early isn't the only perk. Monzo shares: "We could double your salary if you get paid into your Monzo account. There are 10 lucky customers every month." You have to be a UK resident aged 18 and over. This means if your take-home pay is £500, Monzo will add an extra £500 to your account. It says: "It’s yours to spend, save, or invest, and you won’t pay tax on your winnings." To see if you have won, customers can tap below their salary transaction or on the Double Payday card in the app to see if it’s a Double Payday. If you’re one of the lucky ones, Monzo will pay the money straight into your account. It explains: - You’ll need to get your salary paid into your Monzo personal or joint account (via Bacs or Faster Payments) to be in with a chance. See what it defines as a salary in their Ts&Cs. - Ask your employer – or whoever you receive a salary from – to use your Monzo personal account details for your next payment. - Weekly and monthly salaries between £300-£20,000 count, and eligibility is based on previous month’s salary. Winning payments are capped at £10,000. To qualify for the next month’s Double Payday, your salary must be paid into your Monzo account by the last day of the month. You get one entry per month. On the first working day of the next month, 10 winners are picked at random from everyone who qualifies. You do not need to opt in manually. As long as you get your salary paid into your Monzo account, you’ll automatically be eligible. You can opt out in the app if you wish.
