Woman dies days after partner allegedly stabs her in the chest

Woman who police allege was stabbed in the chest by her partner dies in hospital A 47-year-old woman who Northern Territory Police allege was stabbed in the chest by her partner earlier this month has died in hospital. On September 19, an NT Police spokesperson said the woman's 39-year-old partner had dropped her off at the Palmerston Regional Hospital at about 8pm the previous evening, telling staff she was unwell. "A medical assessment by staff identified that the [alleged] victim had suffered two stab wounds to her chest," they said in a statement at the time. "The [alleged] victim has since been transferred to Royal Darwin Hospital in a critical condition." Her partner was arrested that day and was later charged with intentionally causing serious harm. Police said they received confirmation of the woman's death earlier today. The police spokesperson said they were now "liaising with the Department [sic] of Public Prosecutions" while the investigation continues. The man remains in custody and is due to return to the Darwin Local Court on October 28.
