An air ambulance landed on the roof of the multistorey car park at around 11.30am, while armed police were also seen in the area, Manchester Evening News reports. One person wrote on Facebook: "Ambulance just left the roof, and armed police passed me and unmarked cars!" The Tameside division of Greater Manchester Police confirmed it was in attendance at the store after reports of a 'concern for welfare' and that a woman was in hospital with 'serious injuries'. In a statement on Facebook, the force said: "Officers were called to reports of a concern for welfare at a store on Wellington Rodd in Ashton-under-Lyne. "Multiple emergency services responded and a woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. We thank people for their patience and understanding as our work continues."
