Nuclear-capable Russian warplane crashes in ball of fire with at least six dead A nuclear capable Tu-95MS strategic bomber went down in flames in the far east of Russia today A massive nuclear capable bomber aircraft has crashed in flames in the far east of Russia killing at least six of the crew. Initial reports said there were “two survivors” who were rushed to hospital. The stricken plane was a Tu-95MS bomber, capable of carrying Russian nuclear missiles. Earlier reports claimed it was a Tu-154, but the Russian Defence Ministry later confirmed it was a Tu-95MS. The Tu-95MS planes have been used regularly to fire missiles at Ukraine during the on-going war with Russia. Pictures from the scene show a massive fireballl with wreckage from the military plane illuminated by flames. The cause of the crash was not immediately clear. The aircraft was from Russia’s Ukrainka Air Group, an airbase located in Seryshevsky District of remote Amur Region. The Ukrainka airfield is home to the command of the 6952nd Guards Sevastopol-Berlin Red Banner Air Base, which operates Tu-95MS strategic missile-carrying bombers. This is a Breaking News story.
