Heartbroken daughter calls for booze ban on apps after dad ordered vodka daily Brooke Rainbow Adams, 22, lost her father Neil David Adams following his long battle with alcohol addiction — and now she claims her dad was able to have alcohol delivered to his door day after day A heartbroken daughter has called for booze to be banned from delivery apps after claiming her alcoholic dad was able to order a bottle of vodka to his home every day. Brooke Rainbow Adams, 22, lost her dad Neil David Adams following a long battle with alcohol addiction. Neil, 52, died on August 30 after suffering multiple organ failure, according to Brooke. She claims he had alcohol delivered to his home day after day as his drinking spiralled, including a bottle of vodka every day for around eight months. Brooke said: "For around two years, he had alcohol delivered directly to his home day in and day out. For eight months, he was able to order a bottle of vodka every single day, and as far as we knew, nothing ever triggered a safeguarding concern or intervention." Brooke, a clinical support worker, said her family had spent years trying to support Neil with his addiction. She said she began finding large numbers of vodka bottles in the bin, while her dad repeatedly attended hospital and was warned on several occasions that he could die. “My dad had struggled with alcohol throughout my life, but his drinking became significantly worse during the last two to three years after he moved out of our family home and his depression spiralled,” Brooke said. Following Neil's death, Brooke said she discovered receipts showing orders for vodka, beer and other alcoholic drinks through several popular delivery apps. She claims there appeared to be no restriction on how frequently he could order alcohol. Brooke, who is from from Birkenhead, Merseyside, is now calling for delivery companies to introduce stronger safeguards to identify potentially concerning patterns of alcohol purchases. She said systems should flag customers who repeatedly order alcohol every day, make multiple orders in a single day or place unusually large orders over a prolonged period. Brooke added: “I understand that people with alcohol addiction have their own choices and that adults cannot simply have their freedom taken away, but I believe that vulnerable people should still be safeguarded. “Until these companies understand the reality behind these orders, people can continue receiving multiple deliveries of alcohol every day without anything being done.” Brooke has since taken to social media to raise awareness and claims she has received hundreds of messages from people across the UK who have experienced similar situations with loved ones. She is campaigning for alcohol to be removed from delivery apps, alongside stronger safeguards and earlier intervention for people struggling with addiction. “My dad's death was one of the most horrific and tragic things I have ever had to experience,” Brooke said. “I watched my dad lose his life to alcohol through multiple organ failure, and our family has been left completely broken.” She said her family now has to face life without Neil, with her and her 24-year-old brother unable to share the milestones of their future with their dad. “My dad was more than an alcohol-dependent person or another order on an app,” Brooke said. “He was our dad, he was loved, and his loss has broken our family.”
