Mum-of-two dies after suffering 'catasphrophic injury' following Westlife concert Mum-of-two Danielle O'Keane, from Newry in Northern Island, died after sustaining a brain injury in a road traffic collision in Dublin A mum-of-two from Northern Ireland has died in hospital after sustaining a "catastrophic" injury in a road traffic collision in Dublin. Danielle O'Keane, 37, sustained a brain injury in a crash on North Wall Quay at around 11pm on Saturday, September 26. Ms O'Keane was taken to Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, where she was placed in intensive care on a ventilator. On the night of the tragic crash, Ms O'Keane, from Newry, was travelling to Dublin city centre with friends after seeing Irish boy band Westlife at the 3Arena. The accident happened when the rickshaw she was travelling in hit a kerb, the Irish Mirror reports. After fighting for her life in hospital for five days, Ms O'Keane sadly died from her injuries on Thursday, October 1. Her death notice on Funeral Times reads: "O'Keane (née Mullan) (Saval, Newry) died 1 October 2026 as the result of an accident. "Danielle R.I.P. Much loved wife of Dave and dear mother of [two]. Beloved daughter of Michael and Pauline, and dear sister of Barry and her twin Sean. Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on her soul. "Funeral arrangements later. Deeply regretted by her sorrowing husband, children, parents, brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, mother-in-law Dolores, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, family circle and friends."
