Trouble feared in Bootle until end of the day as police issue urgent statement Merseyside Police have been given special powers to tackle anti-social behaviour across multiple streets in the Netherton area of Bootle Police in part of Merseyside have been given special powers to take action after a sudden increase in youths causing anti-social behaviour in the area. Merseyside Police said they had introduced a dispersal zone in Netherton, Bootle, following reports of trouble. That means officers now have the powers to seize any item, including vehicles, used to cause anti-social behaviour on multiple streets within the zone. The police said in a statement: "The order has been authorised under Section 34 of the Anti-Social Behaviour & Policing Act 2014, which gives Police Officers and Police Community Support & Traffic. "It gives officers powers to direct people they suspect are causing or likely to cause crime, nuisance or anti-social behaviour to members of the public to leave a designated area and not return for up to 48 hours." They added: "Should a person who has previously been directed to leave the area return, an offence would be committed, which they may ultimately be arrested for." The dispersal zone order is now active and will be in place until 10pm tonight (Saturday). The area affected is bounded by Northern Perimeter Road, Chapel Lane, Netherton Green, St Oswalds Lane, Bridge Lane, Swifts Lane, Poulson Drive, Sefton Moss Lane, Sterrix Lane, Gorsey Lane, Pendle Drive and off shooting roads, Bowland Drive, Wooded area on Trawden Way and Buckley Hill Lane.
