New Aldi £20 item 'perfect in any room' similar to 'luxury' £150 John Lewis option Shoppers can visit their nearest Aldi store to find the item, but as the supermarket says, once it's gone, it's gone As winter approaches, UK shoppers are hunting for ways to keep their homes cosy without breaking the bank. For shoppers keen to stick to a budget while buying homeware that arguably looks more expensive than it is, Aldi may have just the thing. The supermarket has brought out a new range of homeware items in time for the cooler autumn weather. As part of its Kirkton House collection, customers can get their hands on a beige Faux Fur Throw for £19.99. Aldi's Kirkton House Faux Fur Throw shares similar features to John Lewis' Golden Brown Faux Fur Throw, which costs significantly more at £150. For those who like the look of the £150 John Lewis throw, Aldi's £20 version could be a more affordable alternative. In the product description, Aldi says: "Add a touch of warmth and texture to your space with this super-soft design. Perfect for creating a cosy and inviting feel in any room." The faux fur throw is made from 100% polyester, which can help keep you warm because its synthetic fibres trap warm air close to your body. Its dimensions are 150cm x 200cm. There are five colours to choose from, including: anthracite, white, beige, brown or grey. While they look similar at first glance, a closer look reveals differences in luxury and practicality. Both blankets are the same size, 150 x 200cm, making them ideal for double beds or sofas. At a casual glance, Aldi's version mimics the high-end aesthetic with the light brown colour, furry design and reversible side. However, the John Lewis throw features a premium blend of acrylic and modacrylic. This gives it a heavy drape, realistic multi-toned depth, and a high-shine finish. In contrast, Aldi’s throw is made entirely of 100% polyester, resulting in a lighter weight and a more uniform colour. In the product description on the John Lewis website, the store says: "A soft and luxurious faux fur throw to keep you cosy on cold winter nights, while adding a touch of glamour. Ideal for your bed." The biggest divide between the two is the price tag. The John Lewis Golden Brown throw retails at £150.00, making it an investment piece. Meanwhile, the Aldi UK version costs a fraction of that. Regarding daily maintenance, Aldi’s synthetic fabric is completely machine washable, making it ideal for busy family homes with pets or children. The luxury John Lewis blanket is strictly dry clean only to maintain its plush texture.
