NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday suspended Sukhveer Singh Maiserkhana, MLA from Punjab's Maur assembly constituency, citing his “involvement in anti-party activities and indiscipline”. This came after he posted an emotional video highlighting shortage of teachers in schools in his constituency."Dear Mr Sukhveer Singh, It has come to the notice of the Party that you have been found involved in anti-party activities and indiscipline. In view of the above, your primary membership from the Party is suspended with immediate effect," AAP said in a statement.
In the video, Maiserkhana appealed for adequate teaching staff in government schools and spoke about the difficulties faced by students due to the shortage. His remarks drew attention after he appeared emotional while raising the issue on social media.BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu shared the video and attacked the Punjab government over its education claims."Camera Claims vs Punjab’s Ground Reality! The tears of Aam Aadmi Party’s own MLA, Sukhveer Maisarkhana, expose the ground reality behind Punjab’s much-publicised ‘education model’" he said.
“When a ruling-party MLA has to come on social media and appeal for adequate teachers in schools in his own constituency, it raises serious questions about the situation faced by ordinary families and lakhs of students across Punjab,” he said.
