Lidl has brought out a new jumper for autumn that could be a budget-friendly alternative for shoppers who like the look of a high-end version available at John Lewis. The supermarket releases new Special Buy deals every Thursday and Sunday, and a fresh batch of clothing has recently landed in stores.
Customers can find a new Esmara Ladies' Brown Jumper in the Middle Aisle for £7.99. The brown jumper is made with Lycra "for a superior fit", according to Lidl. Sizes range from small to large, and the jumper features "dropped shoulders" with ribbed detailing across the neckline, waist and wrist cuffs.
Many shoppers would agree that jumpers are an ideal staple for autumn, and the colour brown reflects the season’s natural palette of changing leaves, warm wood tones, and harvest colours. Styling a brown jumper is incredibly straightforward; it pairs with classic blue or ecru denim, can be layered with cream or beige trousers, and provides a striking contrast against autumnal jewel tones like burgundy, plum, or forest green.
Lidl's new Esmara Ladies' Brown Jumper could be an affordable option for those who are keen on the look of Whistles' Curved Hem Knit Pure Wool Jumper from John Lewis, but would prefer to stick to a budget. At a glance, both jumpers share similar features in design and colour; however, the high-end version is on sale at John Lewis for £85 - down from £115.
Both jumpers feature a warm brown colour and a relaxed dropped-shoulder fit. However, Lidl's version uses a synthetic blend and a straighter cut with loose cuffs, contrasting with Whistles' 100% wool design, curved hem and tighter cuffs.
It is down to shoppers to decide which brand, material and overall look they prefer and how much they are willing to spend. However, opting for Lidl's £7.99 version would save shoppers around £77.

Fashion shoppers looking to update their wardrobe for autumn may also be impressed by the supermarket’s new Esmara Ladies' Light Beige Jumper has similarities to the luxury retailer Hobbs' £69 Nell Chunky Cable Jumper. It could also be compared to Barbour's Hampton Knit Sweater, which is available at Frasers for £58.
Shoppers can also get an Esmara Ladies Beige Teddy Fleece Jacket. Priced at £8.99, shoppers can pick up a fluffy and comfortable design, complete with a zip fastening and two oversized pockets.
In other autumn news, Aldi is launching Latte and Frappe Duo Sachets, priced at 99p each and landing in stores on October 11.
An Aldi spokesperson said: "These delicious drinks are the perfect way to embrace cosy season."
