Ex-White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has landed her next job after leaving Donald Trump's inner-circle.
She is joining controversial right-wing network Fox News and will begin life as an on-air contributor on November 1. Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott said: "Karoline's first-hand experience in the White House and on the presidential campaign trail gives her a distinct understanding of today's political landscape."
For her part, Leavitt, in the same statement, said she looked forward "to bringing my unique perspective from my experience as White House Press Secretary, along with the same energy and candour that defied my tenure, to Fox's millions of viewers across their many platforms".
Ms Leavitt, 29, was the youngest person to hold the role of press secretary. When she left at the end of August, the US president described her as one of his "most trusted aides".
Ms Leavitt is not the first White House press secretary to join Fox News. Kayleigh McEnany joined in 2021 and remains at the network. Trump has hired several Fox News personalities to key jobs in his own administration, chief among them being Defence Secretary, and self-described Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth. Trump has not yet announced a replacement for Leavitt.
White House press secretaries have previously joined news network, including Jen Psaki who worked for the Biden administration before later joining left-wing MS Now. Dana Perino, the ex-White House press secretary for George W. Bush, is both a Fox News commentator and host.
There have been other instances where people have moved in the other direction with Fox News Sunday host Tony Snow before he joinde the George Bush administration in 2006 as White House press secretary.
White House press secretaries typically act as a spokesperson for the president and his government with duties including promoting government policies.
