Buckingham Palace releases advent calendar for £100 less than Meghan Markle’s The Royal Collection Trust has revealed its advent calendars for 2026, just days after the Duchess of Sussex released her first luxury calendar for a whopping £112 Buckingham Palace has released its 2026 advent calendar, just days after Meghan Markle revealed her own take on the classic festive tradition. The Royal Collection Trust has unveiled its £12 advent calendar, which featured 24 days of milk chocolates. The design of the advent calendar 'captures the magic of the festive season' with an illustration of a decorated Christmas tree which pays homage to the three royal residences: Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Sitting on top of the illustrated tree is a crown, two Union flags and the ceremonial guardsmen who 'stand watch at these iconic locations'. The chocolate calendar is available to buy for just £12, while another unusual calendar is also on offer this year. Featuring an elaborate design of Buckingham Palace, an unfilled calendar is available ‘with fillable drawers, ready for you to add small surprises and treasures for each day’. According to the Royal Collection Trust website, the ‘heirloom piece’ is designed to be “personalised with your own choice of gift, and folds in to show a snowy scene at the famous Buckingham Palace Façade. From chocolate coins to small gifts, add your family’s favourites and watch their faces light up this December.” The refillable advent calendar retails for £25, which is a far cry from the £112 Meghan Markle’s luxury chocolate advent calendar is now available for on her As Ever website. Last week, the Duchess of Sussex shared the sneak peek of the calendar on her Instagram, which is inspired by her home in Montecito. The 24-door advent calendar appears to feature an illustration of her home in California, from which the Sussex family moved a matter of weeks ago as they relocated to Britain after spending six years in America. The inside of the box features the words ‘A magical celebration of the season’, and adds that the 24 handcrafted chocolates are there to ‘sweeten each day’ and have been ‘thoughtfully inspired by our Montecito garden’. The calendar will retail for £112, or $148USD, which equates to approximately £4.60 per chocolate. After the announcement was made on the brand’s social media, Meghan shared a video to her own Instagram stories of her driving around what appears to be the garden of her Montecito home in a golf buggy. Sitting beside Meghan in the clip is Jonathan Grahm, chief executive of Los Angeles chocolatier Compartes, with whom the calendar is in collaboration with. The next clip shows the Duchess showing off the first sketches of the calendar’s illustration, and another clip showing the Sussex’s dog, a black Labrador named Pula, walking around carrying a stuffed toy in the shape of As Ever’s raspberry spread in its mouth. The video was captioned ‘Christmas planning in June’ while Michael Bublé’s festive tune Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) played over the clips. Pre-orders for the limited edition advent calendar are open now, with deliveries expected for fans in November.
