Krystian Bielik has discovered his punishment from the FA after clashing with a Portsmouth supporter during Cardiff City's 2-0 defeat by Portsmouth at Fratton Park last month
Cardiff City defender Krystian Bielik has been given a two-match ban and fined £10,000 by the FA after an altercation with a Portsmouth fan.
Bielik clashed with a Pompey supporter while going to collect the ball for a throw-in during a 2-0 defeat at Fratton Park on September 5. Footage of the incident went viral on social media which appeared to show the Cardiff star grabbing the young fan by the throat.
The youngster, who had aimed a slap at Bielik, was escorted out of the stadium. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary later launched an investigation into an alleged common assault before dropping the case after Bielik agreed to apologise to the supporter.
The FA said in a statement: "Krystian Bielik has been suspended for two matches and fined £10,000 for misconduct during Cardiff City's EFL Championship match against Portsmouth on Saturday 5 September.

"It was alleged that the player acted in an improper manner around the 71st minute of the fixture. Krystian Bielik subsequently admitted the charge. An independent Regulatory Commission imposed these sanctions following a hearing, and the written reasons for its decisions will be published in due course."
Bielik will now miss Cardiff's next two Championship matches, away at Blackburn on Saturday, and against Watford on Tuesday. The 28-year-old has made seven appearances for the Bluebirds this season after joining from West Brom in the summer.
Cardiff have made a poor start to the season following promotion and sit 21st in the Championship, having won just one of their eight games so far.
In a statement confirming that no action would be taken against Bielik last month, a Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson said: "Following an incident involving a Portsmouth FC supporter and a Cardiff player at Fratton Park on 5 September 2026, we have now concluded our investigation.
"After speaking with the complainant and reviewing all available evidence, the matter has been resolved by way of an out-of-court disposal, agreed by all parties involved.
"As part of this resolution, an apology has been provided by the player. The matter is now considered closed, and no further action will be taken in relation to this incident."
Speaking after the game, Cardiff boss Brian Barry-Murphy said: "I wanted to make sure he (Bielik) was protected and make sure he was okay, which he is. I thought the referee and his staff handled the incident impeccably. I was assured by him the correct processes will take place.
"He said he’d seen everything which occurred really clearly, so he diffused the situation and implemented the correct processes from there.
"The players are always subjected to different things that’s not acceptable. My job is to protect the players, but really I’m trying to make sure that we play well and win. I’m sure the FA will look at it and implement the correct processes."
