NEW DELHI: The Air Force on Thursday marked its 94th Air Force Day with a ceremonial parade and display of its key combat assets at Hindan airbase, with Air chief marshal AP Singh highlighting the force's preparedness and the importance of air power in modern conflicts.Speaking at the event, Air chief Singh said the IAF remained prepared to deal with any challenge and pointed to its performance during Operation Sindoor.“We are alert, ready to meet any challenges; IAF showed speed of combat operation during Operation Sindoor,” the Air Chief said.He said recent conflicts around the world had underlined the growing importance of air power in protecting a country’s interests.“Conflicts in parts of world have shown air power is primary means of protecting interests of a nation,” Singh said.The Air Chief, who is set to retire on October 31, also reflected on his tenure and called it a matter of pride to have led the force.“Proud moment for me; serving as IAF chief was my biggest fortune,” Singh said.The celebrations began with a ceremonial parade at the Hindan air base. The three service chiefs, senior military officials and several former IAF chiefs attended the event.
Singh arrived at the parade venue in a vintage car from the 1960s, while three helicopters flew past in a ‘Dhwaj’ formation.
The IAF also put several of its frontline aircraft, helicopters, weapons and air defence systems on static display. These included Rafale, Su-30 MKI and Jaguar fighter jets, along with LCH Prachand and ALH Dhruv helicopters.Critical weapon and air defence systems were also showcased as part of the celebrations.
