Popular supermarket snacks among five products recalled over salmonella fears Major supermarket supplier Greencore has issued a recall notice after Salmonella was found in pistachio nuts - Bookmark - CommentsGo to comments Become an Independent member to bookmark this article Already a member? Log in Ready made meals, salads and sauces have been urgently recalled over salmonella fears. The five products sold at M&S and Tesco all contain pistachio nuts, an ingredient which was contaminated with salmonella. Major supermarket supplier Greencore has issued a recall notice and customers have been warned to “not eat” the products and instead return them to receive a full refund. The M&S Super Nutty Wholefood with a Soy & Ginger Dressing, M&S Nutrient Dense Nutty Super Wholefood and M&S Fresh Collection Pistachio Pesto products have all been affected by the recall. The Pinch Pan Poppin’ Chicken Pasanda & Nutty Pilau Rice and Pinch Bangin’ Butter Chicken & Nutty Pilau Rice, both sold at Tesco are also being recalled. M&S said in a statement: “In the abundance of caution, Greencore is recalling some pistachio products due to the possible presence of Salmonella. Customer safety is of paramount importance to Marks & Spencer and we take food safety extremely seriously. “Please do not consume this product. Any customers in possession of these products can return it to their nearest store where a full refund will be given. Only the displayed date codes are impacted. No other M&S products are affected. We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused,” it added. The following batches have been impacted by the recall: - Pinch Pan Poppin' Chicken Pasanda & Nutty Pilau Rice (400g) all use by dates up to October 10. - Pinch Bangin’ Butter Chicken & Nutty Pilau Rice (400g) all use by dates up to October 10. - M&S Super Nutty Wholefood with a Soy & Ginger Dressing (200g) all use by dates up to October 10. - M&S Nutrient Dense Nutty Super Wholefood (285g) all use by dates up to October 11. - M&S Fresh Collection Pistachio Pesto (115g) all use by dates up to October 13. Salmonella is a common bacterial cause of food poisoning that typically comes from contaminated food, water, or contact with animals. Symptoms usually include a fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps. The Food Standards Agency which issued the recall notice, urged customers to not eat the products and said: “If you are experiencing these symptoms, you should stay away from work, school or nursery until you have stopped having symptoms for at least 48 hours to avoid passing it on to others.” The symptoms usually start within a few hours or a few days of eating food that caused the infection. Sometimes symptoms do not start for a few weeks, according to the NHS.
