Man charged after allegedly shooting at car and seriously injuring teenager A 29-year-old man has been denied bail after he allegedly shot at a vehicle and seriously injured a teenage passenger in Canberra's south on Friday night. Police said four teenagers had been travelling in a red Ford Falcon along Abrahams Crescent and Beaumaris Street in Conder when they encountered a red Hyundai i30 hatchback. The driver of the Hyundai allegedly followed the Ford along Tom Roberts Avenue to the intersection of Box Hill Avenue and Tharwa Drive and shot at the other vehicle at about 10pm, striking a passenger in the back seat. The occupants of the Ford called police who told the driver to come to Tuggeranong Police Station. "Officers from the station provided first aid to the teenager before he was transported to hospital by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics with serious injuries,"the police statement said. After establishing a crime scene in Conder, police said they saw a man climb out of a bush on Greaves Place and get into a waiting red Audi at about 11.30pm. Police said the Audi was found parked outside the 29-year-old man's home in Gordon shortly after. The man was arrested and faced the ACT Magistrates Court today, charged with using a firearm to endanger human life. The court heard the accused pursued the Ford before firing two or three shots into the vehicle, seriously injuring one of the passengers. Magistrate James Lawton refused bail, arguing there was a risk that the man could access the firearm, which had not yet been located by police. Police said the man was also subject to parole conditions. The matter will return to court on November 4. Police are urging anyone who was driving in the area of Conder and Banks about 10pm on Friday night, particularly in the vicinity of Abrahams Crescent, Beaumaris Street, Tom Roberts Avenue, Box Hill Avenue, Tharwa Drive and Pockett Avenue, who saw a red Hyundai i30 or a red Ford Falcon, to contact Crime Stoppers. Police are also appealing for residents along Beaumaris Street with CCTV to come forward. [Image text:] AUSTRAUAN CAPTA TERFITORY AWCORTS
