CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, two others detained by Delhi Police NEW DELHI: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke and leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were detained by Delhi Police on Saturday at the IGI Airport.Dipke had earlier said he was prepared to face arrest as he travelled to Delhi for the party’s proposed Jantar Mantar protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah of using security restrictions to prevent people from joining the demonstration.Questioning the deployment of security forces and restrictions on public movement, Dipke alleged that the government feared young people and citizens challenging its actions. At least 600 people have been detained under Section 65 of the Delhi Police Act as security was tightened across the national capital ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) proposed protest at Jantar Mantar, demanding Kumar’s resignation.Stringent traffic restrictions came into force at 6 am, with diversions planned at several locations across Delhi. Police personnel were deployed at barricades and key intersections to check vehicles and monitor movement around the protest site. The heightened security coincided with restrictions on metro services, train cancellations and the suspension of mobile internet services in parts of the capital. The Delhi Traffic Police warned of possible disruptions around Connaught Place, Mandi House, Jantar Mantar, Patel Chowk and other key intersections in central Delhi, with diversions to be regulated according to the prevailing law and order situation. According to the traffic advisory, affected stretches include the Ashoka Road-Jantar Mantar Road roundabout, Tolstoy Marg-Janpath crossing, Jai Singh Road-Sansad Marg crossing, Rail Bhawan roundabout, Patel Chowk, Gol Dak Khana and Windsor Place.Delhi Police has denied permission for the proposed demonstration, citing law and order concerns and the possibility of inconvenience to residents. In its communication to the party, police said CJP’s intimation did not qualify as a duly filed application for permission.Under police guidelines, applications to hold demonstrations at Jantar Mantar must be submitted at least 10 days in advance. Authorities also cited alleged past violations of protest conditions, including demonstrations continuing beyond the stipulated time limits.
