When Volaris Flight 3358 landed at Tapachula International Airport in Chiapas, passengers noticed a young woman hadn't moved - paramedics later confirmed she was dead
A young woman was found dead in her seat following a four-hour flight when fellow passengers noticed she hadn't moved after it landed.
Footage showed officials carrying Abidai López Solís, 28, off the plane, covered by a sheet, after Volaris Flight 3358 landed at Tapachula International Airport in Chiapas, Mexico on Wednesday morning. She boarded the plane in Tijuana.
Passengers had already started disembarking when Abidai was found motionless in her seat. People in her row called for help after she failed to respond, but paramedics confirmed she had died.
Airport teams were mobilised while prosecutors carried out the formal removal of the body. It was then taken away for an autopsy.
The airline is yet to issue a statement on the passenger’s sudden death.
Forensic reports later linked her death to cardiorespiratory arrest and suggested it was from natural causes. Her family identified her at the state prosecutor's office in Chiapas on Thursday.
Abidai came from Acacoyagua in Chiapas State, and relatives had her body taken back to the municipality for the funeral. She was returning to the area to see family members.
The prosecutor's office has not yet published the autopsy report.
No foul play has been alleged as the investigation continues.
This comes as eight people were rushed to hospital after a flight was forced to divert thousands of miles due to severe turbulence.
Avianca Flight 042 was travelling from Medellín, Colombia, to New York City when the turbulence hit. The aircraft was left with no choice but to divert to Miami, where the flight landed safely at 3.30am on Friday.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said "multiple patients" were injured during the turbulent journey, with a number of ambulances waiting for them upon landing.
Passenger Paula Jimenez told CBS News Miami: "When we arrived, when we landed, we saw that very close to where we were going to disembark, there were more than five or six ambulances.
"Seven of them with their lights on as if they were waiting for something. When we arrived, well, you know, it wasn't normal."
