Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their children 'won't stay in UK for Christmas' Prince Harry and Meghan Markle plan to spend Christmas in California with their children despite only recently moving back to the UK, a report has claimed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to venture back to the US with their children in a matter of weeks as they plan to spend Christmas in California, according to a friend. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex unexpectedly relocated to the UK from California more than a month ago. The Sussexes, who remain non-working royals, stepped away from royal duties six years ago for a new life in the US. Speculation over the reason for their return has ranged from the couple wanting their children to develop a closer relationship with their grandfather, King Charles III, to Meghan seeking a return to acting. In the run-up to their return, the King was said to be pleased at the prospect of spending more time with his family, but remained adamant that Harry and Meghan would not become working royals. The royal family traditionally spends December at the monarch’s Sandringham residence in Norfolk. However, a friend of the couple told the Daily Mail that Harry, Meghan and their children would spend Christmas in California this year. They have kept their multi-million-dollar home in Montecito, a celebrity enclave a few hours north of Los Angeles. The friend claimed the couple are trying to "keep their heads down between now and Christmas, when they will go back to California for the holidays". Harry and Meghan are reportedly believed to be planning to spend school holidays and half-term breaks in either California or Portugal. It comes after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's spokesperson condemned international paparazzi who were seen looking into the grounds of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s school in the UK last month. Two young men with backpacks, who were using a white van, are understood to have been spotted by private security and school staff walking the perimeter of the school and monitoring children. The spokesperson called it an "unacceptable intrusion into the privacy of children" and an "irresponsible and ill-considered" way to behave in the vicinity of a school.
