Donald Trump takes control of horror decision to live stream execution by firing squad US president Donald Trump said he will 'make a decision' after the Pentagon announced shock plans to livestream the firing squad execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan Donald Trump has vowed to 'make a decision' around the controversial bid to livestream the execution of a former soldier. Plans were unveiled by the Pentagon earlier this week to broadcast the firing squad execution of Nidal Hasan, an ex-army major who carried out the 2009 Fort Hood mass shooting, killing 13 unarmed soldiers and wounding 32 others. On Friday, Trump said he had "absolutely" approved the livestream announcement - but after a wave of backlash, including from fellow Republicans, the US president suggested today that he was yet to make a decision on whether this would go ahead. He told reporters in the White House: "There are two thoughts: don’t show it and show it. Cause you know, by showing it, maybe other people won’t be doing what he did. So I’ll make a decision ultimately. I know what the military would like to do, but I’ll make a decision,” the president told reporters at the White House. Trump said of Hasan: "He’s a vicious killer - killed 13 people in cold blood, wounded over 20. Some of those people will never have their lives back in a true sense." It comes after Vice President JD Vance said he wasn't sure if the livestream was "actually going to happen" - and said he would not be watching if it did. "Whatever the controversy is about the method of the execution, I hope that people don’t forget that this is a guy who brutally murdered a lot of innocent people," Vance said. "Now, that said, I mean, look, if it’s ultimately livestreamed, I’m not going to be watching it". Trump turns on Zelensky again Donald Trump also called for Ukraine to get rid of President Volodymyr Zelensky after Kyiv labelled his oil deal a "gift" to Vladimir Putin. The US president announced the £3.3bn deal to purchase Russian diesel on Friday after Ukraine refused demands stop targeting Putin's oil sites at a joint summit in Florida. "I said to him: ‘do what you want, don’t hit refineries", Trump said today in the White House. "You’ve lost 30% of your country and you’ve had over a million people killed. … I think it’s time for Ukraine to get a new president"
