MEERUT: Former two-term BJP MP from Aonla in Bareilly, Dharmendra Kashyap, resigned from the party's primary and active membership, alleging that members who worked against BJP during Lok Sabha polls were being rewarded while backward and most backward communities were denied adequate representation and respect. His resignation came days after BJP announced its RS nominees, prompting Kashyap to post "Tata bye-bye" on social media.
Kashyap announced his decision through a social media post addressed to BJP national president, state president, Braj region chief and district chief.
He did not name anyone in his resignation, but his decision followed BJP's nomination of Shruti Gangwar to RS. Speculation had been growing that he was unhappy with the choice as he had been expecting a nomination himself.
The party has not announced whether it has accepted Kashyap's resignation or plans to address his grievances.
