Disappointed with his performance at the World Championships two weeks ago, French cyclist Paul Seixas quickly made up for it at the final Monument of the season. He won the Tour of Lombardy, setting a new record as the race’s youngest-ever winner in the process.
In football, Real Madrid beat Villarreal without particularly impressing, but with the first goal from their high-profile Ivorian summer signing, Yaya Toure.
In France, PSG secured their third consecutive victory and are preparing for an away fixture against Manchester City in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Cityzens remain in limbo regarding their future. Having been found guilty of serious financial offences, they return to action today against their neighbours Liverpool.
