However, no case had been registered so far, Moradabad SP (Rural) Kunwar Akash Singh said, adding that action would be taken after an investigation. According to the victims’ family, Atul and Lavesh, who worked as domestic help at the legislator’s house, and their friend Ramu were held captive and tortured over the suspected theft of the gold bracelet.Ramu’s mother, Omwati, alleged that an aide of the MLA took her son from their home on October 7, while Atul and Lavesh were already being held at the residence. She claimed that the three men were hung upside down, beaten with belts, subjected to electric shocks and had salt rubbed into their wounds. All three were admitted to a hospital in Kashipur. Officials said Ramu’s condition was critical.Sushant Singh dismissed the allegations as baseless, maintaining that the domestic workers had only been questioned about the missing bracelet and had not been assaulted.Moradabad MP and Samajwadi Party leader Ruchi Veera demanded immediate justice for the victims and strict action against those responsible.Police said further action would follow the investigation.(With inputs from PTI) Ayush Pandey is a journalist at The Times of India, covering breaking news, politics, defence, and major legal and policy developments across India and the world.
