The BBC has sent viewers of Celebrity Traitors a crystal-clear message and with us already four episodes in, it could be time to take action.
During Thursdays and Fridays, the BBC airs an episode of Celebrity Traitors followed by Uncloaked - a catch-up from the castle, talking to the latest banished and murdered with Ed Gamble. Just before the show began, a woman's voiceover with a shot of Claudia Winkleman told audiences: “Loving The Celebrity Traitors? Enjoy it all with a TV Licence." The TV Licensing logo then appeared on screen.
The next episode is set to air on Thursday, October 15, at 8pm. This means viewers will need to act fast if they want to avoid a £1,000 fine.
TV Licensing explains: "You could be prosecuted if we find that you have been watching, recording or downloading programmes illegally. The maximum penalty is a £1,000 fine plus any legal costs and/or compensation you may be ordered to pay. The maximum fine is £2,000 in Guernsey."
How much is a TV Licence in 2026?
A standard TV Licence costs £180. A black-and-white licence costs £60.50.
What does a TV Licence cover?
A TV Licence covers a household for:
- All TV channels like BBC, ITV, Channel 4, U&Dave and international channels
- Pay TV services like Sky, Virgin Media and EE TV
- Live TV on streaming services - like YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video
- Everything on BBC iPlayer
- Watching, recording and downloading on any device
TV Licensing notes that a Licence doesn't just cover a TV set, but other devices too, explaining: "If you're catching up on BBC iPlayer on your phone as you commute to work, you need a licence. Streaming a live YouTube channel via your game console?
"You need a licence. Getting stuck into Sky Sports action live on your laptop or tablet? You need a licence for this, too. This includes recording and downloading."
