Hours after a former Fox News vice president accused the network of choosing to “ignore” the scandal involving Trump ambassador and former Fox host Kimberly Guilfoyle, the network ran an article on the allegations.
Ken LaCorte, former SVP of Fox News Digital, called out the network Sunday for its lack of online coverage on allegations that Guilfoyle, U.S. ambassador to Greece, pressed a wealthy MAGA donor for $100,000 to pay off her American Express bill in exchange for access to administration officials.
LaCorte, who was VP and Senior Executive Producer of FoxNews.com from 2006 to 2016, said in a post on X that he believed the lack of coverage stemmed from “fear and inaction by middle management.”
“Kimberly Guilfoyle, former Fox employee and (as of today) ambassador to Greece, is in the midst of a serious scandal. If true, she faces not only the likelihood of removal — something she herself acknowledged — but also the distinct possibility of prison,” he wrote.
“Fox has 0 reporting online about this,” LaCorte also noted in his post, just after 3 p.m. Sunday. “The most recent article at Fox mentioning her is dated December 10, 2024…the day Trump announced her nomination as ambassador.”
LaCorte went on to say that he didn’t believe this was a “mistake” on Fox’s part. “It’s a conscious choice to ignore a major story that has been reported worldwide by every major news outlet. President Trump has spoken about it, as has VP Vance and Marco Rubio. It’s journalistic malpractice.”
He continued: “I don't have knowledge of the details of Fox's action, yet I doubt that there's been an order from up top to ignore it. I suspect it's instead a product of fear and inaction by middle management. Whatever the reason, though, it's an increasing pattern I've seen at the network.”
LaCorte closed his message by warning Fox News that the lack of coverage was harming the company’s reputation.
“Not among your enemies, who will hate you no matter what, but among your supporters, like me, who get pained when the hyperbolic attacks turn out to be true,” he wrote. The Independent has contacted Fox News for comment.
Last week The Wall Street Journal reported that Guilfoyle pressed MAGA donor Eric Deters for $100,000 to pay off her AMEX bill. In exchange for the funds, she offered Deters help getting the Trump administration to look into his personal tax and legal issues. A lawyer for Guilfoyle disputed the authenticity of the messages to the outlet.
While The Wall Street Journal and Fox News are separate news operations, both are owned by the Murdoch media dynasty.
Trump was asked about the reporting on Guilfoyle last Friday. “I just heard about it. It’s too bad,” the president said. “I mean, I don’t know. She’s an ambassador….She was always very nice.”
The Independent has contacted the White House for comment.
Fox News briefly covered the latest Guilfoyle story on-air October 8, according to Variety. Online coverage was not posted until several hours after LaCorte’s post Sunday.
That story, published just before 7 p.m., said Guilfoyle “may soon be fired amid reports she sought a six-figure credit card bailout from a Trump donor while offering access to administration officials.”
After Fox ran the online story, LaCorte shared a link and wrote: “Good to see Fox has now gotten around to it…”
Guilfoyle worked for Fox News from 2006 until her abrupt departure in 2018. The New Yorker subsequently reported that Fox News paid Guilfoyle’s former assistant approximately $4million after she drafted a complaint alleging sexual harassment against her former boss.
Guilfoyle has served as the Trump administration’s U.S. ambassador to Greece since November 2025.
The Wall Street Journal published another report Saturday claiming that in a leaked audio recording, Guilfoyle had raged about not being invited to a dinner party with the Trump family.
Guilfoyle, who was engaged to Donald Trump Jr. until they broke it off in 2024, had an apparent meltdown in January after learning she wasn’t invited to a dinner organized by the Greek House Davos with Eric Trump.
You don’t have the f****** U.S., you know, ambassador to Greece not come. She should be kissing my f****** ass,” Guilfoyle reportedly said of the event’s organizer.
Guilfoyle also allegedly flexed her connections to wealthy Greek businessmen who were paying for her luxury travels at Davos before convincing an American businessman to help her snag an invite, according to audio reviewed by the Journal.
“You know, I can deliver the world to you, which you deserve,” she appeared to have said, according to an audio recording reviewed by the Journal. “I’m going to make you a lot of f****** money.”
While Guilfoyle managed to get invited in the end, organizers told the outlet that she ended up leaving early.
The State Department Office of the Inspector General is investigating whether Guilfoyle received gifts or favors from private businessmen during her time as ambassador, according to the Journal.
