Nuremberg Airport cordoned off by police due to 'possible in-flight emergency' Police have sealed off Nuremberg Airport in Germany after a plane arriving from Greece was escorted by Eurofighter jets before it landed Police have sealed off Nuremberg Airport amid unconfirmed reports of an in-flight emergency with fighter jets escorting a plane. The police operation took place shortly before a flight from the Greek island of Corfu landed at Nuremberg. The Central Franconia police have since given the all-clear. "We are assuming a possible in-flight emergency. However, this is still unconfirmed," a police spokesperson told German news outlet Bild earlier today. However the force later posted on social media platform X saying: "On-site checks have revealed that there is no danger." The flight was scheduled to land in Nuremberg at approximately 12:15 PM. According to Flightradar24, the Corendon Airlines aircraft (flight number XR456) landed safely at 12:16 PM. The airport will remain closed for the time being and the police operation is ongoing, an airport spokesperson said. Bild is also reporting that Eurofighter jets had escorted the plane arriving from the Greek island before it landed. Due to an in-flight emergency, flight operations are currently suspended," the Nuremberg Airport website said. Several planes that were scheduled to land in Nuremberg shortly afterward were diverted to Frankfurt, Memmingen, Stuttgart, or Munich. According to BILD, the Special Deployment Commando (SEK) was reportedly deployed at the airport. This is a Breaking News story.
