US judge extends media outlets' White House access October 14, 2026A US federal judge has extended the order to allow three US media outlets to report from the White House, despite the Trump administration trying to ban them. The three outlets, CNN, MS NOW and Politico, filed a lawsuit against the decision due to constitutional free speech and due process claims. In September, District Judge Timothy Kelly issued an order to temporarily restore the journalists' access to the White House. On Tuesday, Judge Kelly rulled that President Donald Trump likely broke the law by trying to ban them. He then issued a preliminary injunction to extend this previous order for the duration of the case. The judge added that the decision should not be interpreted as "claiming that President Donald Trump's claims about accuracy and fairness in the media's reporting are unfounded," also adding that the government is not "powerless" in protecting national security when classified information is "unlawfully disclosed." For as long as the case is pending, Judge Kelly — who was nominated by President Trump — ordered the restoration of the journalists' press credentials on September 24. More to follow...
