Meghan Markle is said to be exploring a return to acting, now that her family has settled into their new life in the UK. It has long been rumoured that the Duchess of Sussex has been eyeing up a return to her original vocation, as the Mirror understands Meghan is now open to exploring acting offers after engaging in talks with industry big shots.
Before returning to Britain in August, it was revealed that Meghan was reportedly ‘in talks’ to land a role in the Netflix series The Gentlemen.
While speculation was rife around her potential role in the crime drama, which is filmed in the Cotswolds where the Sussexes are believed to be residing, there has been no official confirmation that Meghan will be featuring in the show, which has been renewed for a third season.
Despite the rumours coming to a standstill after Harry, Meghan, Archie and Lilibet relocated to the UK at the end of August, a friend of the Duchess has now said she is still exploring acting options, now that her children have settled in school.
Meghan's friend told Hello! Magazine that she is ready to ‘stick her head above the parapet’ and consider acting work in the UK, while also remaining committed to her charity work and her lifestyle brand As Ever.
The friend said: "Her diary is full. It's the kids, As Ever, acting and then supporting good causes in whatever time she has left over. But she's got a really good team around As Ever, the children are a bit older, they are both in school full time.
"They've got the kids settled. Archie and Lili are really enjoying school. She is able to now stick her head above the parapet a little bit more. It's a case of having a little bit more time to re-look at her original career, her vocation as an actor.”
The insider continued: "She's looking at loads of acting offers. She's meeting a lot of writers and creatives, and reading a lot of scripts. If there's anything that stands out as being amazing, then then she'll do it."
If Meghan landed a new acting role, it would be her first high-profile acting job since appearing in the US legal drama Suits, where she played paralegal Rachel Zane. As well as Suits, the Duchess also made guest appearances on shows including CSI: Miami and 90210 but said she had retired from acting in 2018 when she married Harry.
Since quitting her royal role and moving to California, he has been seen on screen in her Netflix lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan and recently appeared as a guest judge on the Australian version of MasterChef.
But earlier this year, she filmed a cameo where she played herself for the upcoming comedy film Close Personal Friends, alongside Emily in Paris star Lily Collins.
Harry and Meghan are preparing for their first joint outing together since returning to the UK, which will see the Duke and Duchess spend the day undertaking numerous community engagements in Nottingham.
The couple are expected to start their day at the Community Recording Studio (CRS) in St Ann’s, which was originally set up to give young people access to music and recording facilities and now offers them a range of creative activities to take part in, alongside sport, mentoring and youth development.
Meanwhile, Meghan plans to reunite with the women affected by the Grenfell Tower fire, who she collaborated with on a 2018 charity cookbook, Together: Our Community Cookbook .
A source close to the couple told PEOPLE : “After they first arrived in England, their focus was on establishing a routine and getting the kids settled into school. Now they’re both excited to focus more on their work and the projects that matter to them.”
