A Perth woman has been charged after allegedly putting poisonous snail pellets in a colleague's curry in an apparent attempt to poison her. Police said the incident happened in February at a workplace in Oldbury, a semi-rural area south-east of Perth. They said the alleged victim, a 58-year-old woman, brought a container of curry to work to share with colleagues. During a morning tea break, the curry was shared among employees and eaten without issue. But at lunchtime, the woman went back to eat more of the curry and noticed bright green granules in the food. After tasting it, she reported experiencing numbness to her tongue. The food was kept and was given to police. Police allege between morning tea and lunch, a 43-year old woman accessed a chemical storage shed, then went back to the staff room where the food was kept and allegedly added snail pellets to the curry. They have charged her with one count of endangering the life, health or safety of a person. Police say the two women were also in a "personal relationship" together. An investigation by detectives allegedly identified the substance as snail pellets containing metaldehyde, a poisonous substance. She is due to appear in Armadale Magistrates Court on November 5.
