Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have spoken candidly about their two children while on an away day in Nottingham last week. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex undertook back-to-back engagements in the region on Thursday, marking their first joint outing since moving back to the UK in late August.
During the day, both Harry and Meghan individually spoke of their children, Archie and Lilibet, who have been settling into their new lives in Britain. Arriving at their first engagement of the day at the Community Recording Studio, Harry spoke with a group of schoolchildren who were waiting outside the charity.
Chatting candidly with the kids about their school classes, the Duke revealed that his son Archie, 7, is not a fan of maths and expressed his dislike for the subject when starting school in Britain.

Harry told the kids that Archie sweetly asked whether he could be enrolled in a school that 'doesn't do maths' after moving to the UK. In the video, posted on X, Harry added: “And then he went to this new school and on the first day, on the first class, guess what it was? Maths!”
Later in the day, while inside at the Community Recording Studio, Meghan spoke about Lilibet’s newest hobby after joining in a jewellery-making class.
The Duchess joined a group of young girls for a confidence-building and bracelet-making workshop where they discussed what makes them feel most like themselves. When one youngster said: “I like it when I do gymnastics.” Meghan replied: “Oh yeah. Our daughter is doing that too right now. She loves it.”
The duchess, whose Netflix lifestyle With Love, Meghan show centred around hosting and cooking, added: “I feel most like myself when I’m with my family and also when I’m cooking. I love doing that. I love to cook.”
Harry has previously said both Archie and Lili are 'happy in school' in an interview with Canadian network CTV. After completing a charity skydive outside Toronto, he told the network that it was 'great to be back on British soil' and that his children are 'happy in school'.
In the weeks after the Sussex’s arrival back in Britain, Harry attended the inaugural Invictus Spirit awards, where he shared the British things his children have been loving since settling in the UK.
Speaking with Hello! Magazine at the event, the Duke said Archie and Lilibet have been settling into their new UK lives well, and are enjoying one very English treat. The publication asked Harry what ‘the most British thinking you’ve done with the family’ is since being in his home country.
The prince said Archie and Lilibet tried beans and cheese on toast when they were in California, which ‘did not go down very well at all’. But Harry said there is a new British food that his children have been loving. “Marmite on crumpets! The kids have been eating Marmite on crumpets which is a very big moment for me,” he said.
When quizzed how Archie and Lilibet feel about Marmite, Harry added: “They used to diss me for having Marmite in the house. But now we’re in the UK, that’s water under the bridge. They approve of it now.”
